The referee also announced the red card for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, apparently due to his objection to the penalty kick.
Tottenham raised its score to 4 points in seventh place, against Chelsea and Newcastle, who are in eighth and ninth places, respectively.
In the second match, Leeds United snatched a difficult victory for Sheffield United 1-0, recording their second successive victory after their first defeat by Liverpool 4-3.
Leeds owed credit for the win to Patrick Bamford, who scored the game’s only goal in the 88th minute.
Leeds raised its score to 6 points in sixth place, and Sheffield United remained without balance.
