Today, Thursday, the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, published an investigation that includes a video clip shown for the first time, documenting the assault by Israeli jailers on dozens of Palestinian prisoners while they were confined in the Negev prison in 2019, incidents in which none of the abusers was held accountable and the case was closed.
“Haaretz” reported that after two guards were stabbed in the Negev prison (south), 55 prisoners were beaten with batons by at least 10 guards. .
The Israeli newspaper added that it was documented that at least 10 guards beat the prisoners, but the Police Investigation Unit 433 interrogated only 4 of them, before it was decided to close the investigation, and the pretext was an “unknown criminal.”
It is noteworthy that this event dates back to March 24, 2019, when the prison witnessed tensions between prisoners and prison guards, which reached their climax at that time after the prison authority’s decision to install technological systems in the prison to prevent smuggled phone calls.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club had stated earlier this month that a state of tension prevailed in the prisoner sections in the Negev prison, after forces affiliated with the Prisons Administration stormed a section in which 60 prisoners are held. prison sections; However, the prisoners faced this measure by closing the sections, and refusing to take meals.
The Prisoner’s Club pointed out that the prison administration recently escalated its abusive measures against the prisoners at several levels, in an attempt to deprive more of their rights.
