Because of Messi … L’Equipe’s French squad for the best in 2020 faces a torrent of criticism

The ideal squad – revealed by the French newspaper L’Équipe for the 11 best players for the past year 2020 – is facing a lot of criticism because of the absence of some stars from it despite their brilliance with their clubs last season.

The list – which was announced today, Monday – included 5 players from the European Champions League champions Bayern Munich.

German Manuel Neuer came in the goalkeeping position, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and Canadian Alfonso Davis, Bayern defender, along with Dutchman Virgil Van Dyck, and England’s Trend Alexander Arnold, Liverpool defender.

The midfield included Thiago Alcantara and Joshua Kimmich, accompanied by Belgian Kevin De Bruyne and Brazilian Neymar da Silva, while the attack line included Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

A number of tweeters asked about the existence of some names such as Ronaldo and De Bruyne in exchange for ignoring other names that were more worthy of their presence from their point of view, such as: French Kylian Mbappe, Portuguese Bruno Fernandez, and Argentine Lionel Messi, whose fans attacked the squad, refusing to be in it.

Some activists objected to the absence of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer of Liverpool, from the perfect squad, despite his team winning the league title, which he missed 30 years, as one of the tweeters said on Twitter, “The lack of Salah is stranger than the absence of Messi!”
