It seems that the crisis of the Egyptian Minister of Information, Osama Heikal, with a number of famous Egyptian media figures has not subsided, but rather is on the way to a continuous escalation, as the official television broadcast on Monday a leak of the minister dating back to years ago, in the context of accusing him of receiving instructions and directives from other parties, which is the same accusation that The minister directed it to some media professionals.
This week, Egyptians are following a raging conflict, verbal brawl and accusations that have reached traitors, between the Minister of Information and a number of the most famous broadcasters and journalists, against the backdrop of Haykal’s statements that most Egyptians, especially young people, have turned away from following the traditional media, whether related to the written press or television.
Media and politicians say that what is happening between the two sides is, in fact, a conflict between security services and competing factions within the regime of the current President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
It is interesting that the office of the Minister of Information is located in the same building as the official television that broadcast the leaks, but a company affiliated with the General Intelligence is currently controlling the main programs on television, after it obtained a contract claiming to develop it, and it is the same company that controls most Egyptian channels and newspapers, as well as artistic production and even Ads.
In the most recent episodes of this conflict, the wing opposed to the Minister of Information chose to strike him in the heart of his authority, on TV Channel One, by leaking calls that took place between him and Sayyid al-Badawi (the former head of the Wafd Party) in a precedent that the Egyptian media had not witnessed in its history, and which sparked widespread ridicule and criticism Sharp on social media platforms.
The media, who is close to the authority, Wael Al-Ibrashi, broadcast a leaked call between Al-Badawi and an unknown person – reportedly an officer in the dissolved state security apparatus – in which there is talk about political meetings to which parties and public figures were invited and the delegation was ignored, and that was in 2011 in the period following the January revolution that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak after 30 years in power.
In the leak, Al-Badawi’s voice appears asking his secretary to contact Usama Haykal, who was the editor-in-chief of the Al-Wafd Party newspaper at the time, and asking him to act on this ignorance. Noting that Haykal’s voice does not appear in this leak, while Al-Ibrashi comments by saying that “Heikal always receives orders and not the media men and journalists working in the Egyptian media,” referring to Haikal’s comment on the widespread campaign against him in media outlets and newspapers owned by or close to security services.
Heikal considered the campaign against him to be motivated by parties and people known by name, due to his criticism of the reluctance of young people, two-thirds of society, to follow the local media.
He lost his compass and lost his way
Al-Ibrashi considered – in his comment on the leak – that Haykal was used a lot in favor of fronts seeking to obtain part of the gains after the January revolution, accusing him of “serving with his statements the Al-Jazeera media and the Egyptian opposition media abroad, and smashing the Egyptian media.”
He added that the minister became “a hero for the Brotherhood and Al-Jazeera channels within hours and did not respond to that, so he became an opponent of the media that came to support him and a hero of the media that came to fight him,” adding, “The Minister of Information lost his compass and lost the way and raised the approach of confrontation with everyone and with the media that supports him.”
At the end of his speech, the presenter asked about Heikal, “How can the Minister of Information continue in his position after he entered into a state of severe rivalry with all the different Egyptian media?”
On the other hand, activists said that the leak is old, and it is a part that did not broadcast the same call that was broadcast by the journalist close to the security services, Abdul Rahim Ali, in 2015, in which the same person spoke with the Bedouin about the future disposal of the Muslim Brotherhood, saying, “There will be militias that are slaughtering Brotherhood. “
Heikal worked before the January 2011 revolution as a delegate for the Al-Wafd newspaper at the Ministry of Defense and a military editor, which enabled him to form contacts with some army commanders, then headed the editor of the newspaper after the revolution, before he came as Minister of Information in Essam Sharaf’s ministry, which was formed by the ruling military council at the time, then he was dismissed and disappeared from the scene some The thing before Sisi returned it about a year ago and appointed him Minister of State for Information.
Observers believe that a structure is affiliated with the ruling regime’s military wing, which is a man of the armed forces of the government, and that (these) media professionals and newspaper editors work in media outlets and newspapers mostly owned by companies affiliated with security and intelligence services or directly subordinate to them, which means that the conflict (has become) Between the various security services and the armed forces over the influence of the media.
Previous leaks revealed that Egyptian media professionals received instructions from an intelligence officer named Ashraf El-Khouly about what should be said. Journalists in Egypt used to mock what they called “WhatsApp morning instructions” that an officer received from an officer of what should be written and said.
One of the announcers made a mistake and stated the end of her report broadcast live on one of the satellite channels that the news was sent from a Samsung device, which led to ridicule and the designation of the Egyptian media as “Samsung media,” which has spread recently.
Tweeters mocked the state TV broadcasting leaks to the Minister of Information, which the television is supposed to be subordinate to, as tweets and leaflets have spread confirming that what happened in a precedent confirms the existence of a power struggle and a desire to overthrow the minister, with reference to previous leaks of the regime’s symbols as long as the local media denied them and denounced them It was broadcast on Egyptian channels abroad.
Tweeters demanded the authority to dismiss the minister directly if it did not want him to continue in his position, instead of leaving its media arms and tongues to distort and beat him, so that the matter does not turn into a “mockery and absurd mockery that benefits the enemies of the country,” as some put it.
Minister Haykal remained completely silent about the leaks, apparently satisfied with two publications that caused further strikes on him, and then he followed them during the past two days by sharing the publications of his defenders.
The interesting thing is that those who are writing in defense of Haykal’s point of view regarding the deteriorating conditions of the media and the press in Egypt are the staunch opponents of the regime from the opposition and the media abroad.
#Osama_haikal He spoke in terms of advising the system, but this is also not allowed in a country # Sisi Sisi’s state officials are brought in to carry out orders, to hear and obey only. They do not have the right to speak, express opinions, or even advice. Heikal was not dearer than Lieutenant General Hegazy, “Sisi’s son-in-law”, whom Sisi overthrew.

History will pause for a long time by examining and studying in front of the greatness of the Brotherhood, due to a shortage and narration of how the sleeper Brotherhood cell Osama Haykel managed to penetrate the ranks of the Wafd Party for many years and brilliantly reach the position of Minister of Information twice, once after revolution and the other after a coup!#Strategic deception on his father
