  2. Say goodbye to the BBC. Say goodbye to all your radio stations and local radio and local news. Say goodbye to the last bastion against the Foxification of UK television. Just wait, fairness doctrine will be the next to go.

    Murdoch’s wet dream.

  3. If that man said the sun would rise tmrw i wouldn’t believe him.

  4. You have to ask yourself why there’s so much criticism of the BBC by our current government and the tabloids, not to mention all the hostility being provoked on social media.

It’s almost as though they don’t want there to be independent, well-respected media source in the UK.

Murdoch et al have been gradually degrading the image of the BBC for years. It’s like watching the rise of Euroscepticism all over again.

  5. Trouble with this is that its not a decision for government to decide. It sounds great and is long overdue IMO but the government cant force the BBC into anything.

The whole point of the BBC was that it was independent of Government so that the public could put their trust in it. Funding can and will be scrapped apparently but I doubt they can get rid of the laws around forced payment by individuals.

  6. Seems like he’s trying to bankrupt them by taking away their authority to extort money for their fees. Propaganda needs to be force-fed to people. He can’t expect people to willingly pay for it.
