Chelsea continued their winning streak and impressive results under new coach Thomas Tuchel, winning 2-0 at home to Everton in the Premier League on Monday, and Kai Havertz played a prominent role in both goals after returning to the starting line-up.
The German playmaker scored the first goal thanks to his shot that hit Everton defender Ben Godfrey, and put his team ahead in the 31st minute after taking advantage of Marcus Alonso’s cross pass.
Havertz ran to take advantage of a long pass in the 64th minute before being blocked by Jordan Pickford and clinched a penalty kick by Jorginho after sending Pickford in the wrong direction.
Havertz scored himself in the 53rd minute, but the video referee showed that he used his arm to control the ball before the shot.
The England goalkeeper saved several shots to prevent his team from losing a heavier defeat.
With this victory, Chelsea tightened their grip on fourth place, 4 points behind Everton V.
The victory is the sixth in 9 league matches under the leadership of Tuchel, who succeeded Frank Lampard before the end of last January, while he tied 3 times and the London team met only two goals since the arrival of the German coach.
