  1. Apparently you can’t trust data from China except when it’s negative.

  2. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimcollins/2019/09/11/chinas-car-market-is-heading-from-recession-to-depression/#23b78b96b554) reduced by 83%. (I’m a bot)
    > Data from the Chinese Association of Auto Manufacturers show the passenger car market there contracted 6.9% in August and has fallen 11.0% for the year-to-date period.

    > August 2019 marked the 14th consecutive decline for the Chinese auto market, an important landmark for analysts, as Chinese car sales could be said to be "Going up against easy comparisons," i.e. periods in which those figures registered a decline in 2018 versus 2017.

    > Early adopters purchased imported Model 3s despite the tariff penalties, but for Tesla to keep Giga 3 running at anything near full capacity, local buyers will have to purchase lower-end models of the Model 3.

  3. PRC government will just issue a purchase order of dozens of cars and problems solved.

Or, it can issue an order for all car manufacturers to continue production and no layoffs. And orders banks (state owned anyway) to continue to loan money to car manufacturers.

    Love an authoritarian country.

  4. I imagine part of this is from all the trade wars.

  5. good, we don’t need more cars on the road,. We need to find better alternatives to cars, such as better public transportation which China is doing a very great job of.
