Manchester City continued the journey of defending its title in the English Professional League Cup, and the team qualified for the final match of the tournament with a precious 2-0 victory over its neighbor and stubborn rival Manchester United today, Wednesday, in the semi-finals of the tournament.
City beat United in the Manchester summit with a clean goal to reserve its place in the final match of the tournament, in which it meets Tottenham, who beat Brentford 2-0 on Tuesday in the other match in the golden box of the championship.
And Manchester City is one step away from defending the title and equaling the record number of times to win the championship, which Liverpool has acquired with 8 titles compared to 7 for Manchester City, 5 titles for Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa, and 4 titles each for Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.
The first half of the match ended with a goalless draw, then English defender John Stones scored the lead in the 50th minute, while Brazilian Fernandinho scored the team’s second goal in the 83rd minute to lead City to the final scheduled for the ancient Wembley Stadium in London on April 25.
