The new school year was not for the Egyptian student Sama Mohamed, as all the years .. Since her father died of the Corona virus last May, the family has been trying to reduce expenses. And with the return of classes this week, buying a new school uniform was not affordable.
Sama, who is 12 years old, was unable to buy the 150 Egyptian pounds (about $ 9.6) uniform from the school uniform shops, so she went to a clothing factory north of Cairo to buy only one piece of it, which is the shirt.
Factories have been overwhelmed with surplus unsold goods since schools were closed in March due to the Corona virus. It sells school uniforms at a price between 10 and 20 pounds less than store prices, which is a small amount, not compatible with the low-income people who were hit by the epidemic.
With the return of school, Sama wears her new shirt and prepares to go to school, but she remembers her father, and keeps his picture on her laptop.
The little girl held up, and she says her father asked her to stay strong and to protect herself.
