The World Health Organization has warned of being lenient in facing the Corona virus, and government scientists have called for dispelling people’s doubts about the vaccines that will be offered, at a time when British researchers are studying the virus after injecting it with healthy people.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that indulgence in the face of the Corona pandemic could rebound very quickly and threaten hospitals and health systems.
And he warned that the coming winter months will be difficult in the northern hemisphere due to the increase in the number of injuries again.
In this context, scientists also called on governments to work to end any suspicion that people feel about a future vaccine against Covid-19 that may impede the achievement of community immunity from the disease, according to a study published Tuesday.
The authors of the study, which was conducted last June and published in the journal Nature Medicine, warned that “in most of the 19 countries studied, the current levels of acceptance of a vaccine against Covid-19 are insufficient to meet the requirements of community immunity.”
“It is increasingly evident that transparent, evidence-based policy and clear and accurate communication will be required of all stakeholders,” starting with governments, the study authors said.
According to another study published last week in the British Royal Society Open Science magazine, it is likely that up to a third of the population in some countries believes in false information and conspiracy theories about Covid-19.
A Chinese government official said that about 60,000 people in several countries have received experimental Chinese vaccines against Covid-19 as part of 4 clinical trials, stressing that none of them showed unfavorable results.
And China – which recorded the emergence of the new Corona virus at the end of 2019 – has effectively eliminated the epidemic, and it is one of the countries whose research on a possible vaccine is the most advanced.
“The clinical trials of the third (last) phase of the four (Chinese) vaccines are recording progress,” the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology official Tian Baogo told reporters.
Several Chinese companies, including Sinovac and Cinopharm, are working to prepare a vaccine against Covid-19.
“The conditions are no longer conducive to conducting the third phase of trials in China,” where only a small number of new infections are recorded, Tian added.
The two giants moved to conduct tests of their experimental vaccines abroad, especially in Brazil, Indonesia and Turkey.
No vaccine in the world has yet received approval for widespread commercial distribution, but the Chinese authorities have given the green light for the emergency use of some of these vaccines.
China plans to be able by the end of the year to produce 610 million doses of many Covid-19 vaccines annually.
Injecting healthy subjects
In Britain, researchers announced on Tuesday that they are working on an experiment requiring healthy volunteers to be exposed to the virus that causes the Covid-19 epidemic, as part of a pioneering study aimed at discovering the necessary amount of the virus to infect people.
Peter Openshaw, professor of experimental medicine at Imperial, told BBC Radio (BBC) Tuesday that the volunteer would contract the infection through the nose.
He added, “The great advantage of these volunteer studies is that we can examine every volunteer very carefully not only during infection but also before infection, and we can determine exactly what happens at each stage.”
Researchers will use the results to study how vaccines work and explore potential treatments.
The number of HIV infections in the world exceeded 40.7 million people and 1.1 million deaths, according to the census of the World Meter website, which specializes in monitoring virus victims around the world.
The United States is the most affected country in the world, with more than 8.4 million injuries and more than 225,000 deaths, followed by India, with more than 7.6 million injuries and more than 115,000 deaths.
Brazil comes in third place, with World Meter recorded more than 5.2 million injuries and more than 154,000 deaths.
And in Iran, the Ministry of Health recorded 5,039 new cases of Coronavirus today, Tuesday, in the past 24 hours, which is the highest daily infection rate ever, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 539,670 cases.
Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Larry stated in a television interview that the number of deaths exceeded 31,000, with an additional 322 deaths recorded in the past hours.
As for India, which is heading to become the country with the highest number of emerging coronavirus infections in the world, it will resume work at maximum capacity after a closure since last March.
And the government of the second largest country in the world in terms of population decided to continue life, especially after millions were on the brink of starvation.
Poor countries have suffered from many economic hardships, as the World Bank expects that 150 million people will fall into extreme poverty all over the world.
In Palestine, Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila announced today, Tuesday, that 513 new cases of Coronavirus and 8 deaths were recorded during the past 24 hours.
