  1. >Their conservational labor of love has inspired other couples in the region to try and launch similar projects in their own regions.

    >“Money was never the consideration. It is just about my love for nature and wildlife. Instead, these days I am getting queries from people across India who want to replicate a similar model in their state,” says Mr. Singh.

    >The Singhs don’t plan on stopping their mission any time soon—in fact, they now hope to continue buying up land while they build a sustainable, solar-powered homestay for themselves on the property.

The Singhs are awesome people! So nice to see that they’re even inspiring others to do the same.

  2. A male tiger requires a larger territory, such as one that covers 60 to 100 square kilometers (23 to 39 square miles). Most of tigers’ habitats are near a body of water, such as a lake, pond or river. This is because tigers are good at swimming and they usually cool down in pools.

40 acres equals 0.161874 square kilometers. One male tiger they’re territorial and will fight other tigers to the death. Including females when they’re not in season, and will often kill cubs, requiring a smaller space not much 50-90 square km.

Every little helps I suppose. 140,000 dollars for those 40 acres. Seemingly a losing game.

  3. Tigers are fuckin sweet. I hope we’re able to keep them around.

  4. I, too, want to be able to do something like this one day.

  5. Reading this after watching the tiger episode of BBC’s Dynasties makes me feel better.

  6. This sounds suspiciously like the plot of Fool Moon, the second of the Dresden Files books.

  7. Forgot this was /r/worldnews and was like, “There are tigers here!?!?” Makes much more sense now.

  8. In related news, couple gets mauled by tigers

  12. I saw “Indian” and “reserve” and immediately assumed this was a sad story about native Americans.
