  1. If true, it gives one the shivers. Contagious rebellion is precisely what the CCP fears from HK; what will they do to keep it in check?

  2. That’s heartening and with any luck it will lead to the downfall of the CPC. The world should pray that that’s the case.

  3. Good! Maybe mainland Chinese will realize that their government is squashing not just Muslim Uighurs and Tibetan Buddhists, but also free Han Chinese in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and now they’re doing social credits in mainland to restrict their main constituency.

I hope they all demand freedom from their communist masters. Quickly.

  4. I really hope it’s a positive sign of change, but the report seems quite a bit undersourced. Undeniably because of China’s censorship, but I am not sure whether it truly is as big as may people hope here. A city close to HK used slogans also used by HK protesters, when they were protesting a building project. As reported by a HK-based newspaper. They weren’t mainly protesting for democracy or anything, but that they were promised a park, which wass supposed to be turned into a crematorium instead. Doesn’t sound like the next big step of revolution to me, but who knows. Butterfly effects have started for less significant events.

  5. > According to Hong Kong-based Apple Daily—a vocal supporter of the democracy campaign in Hong Kong—chants of “Liberate Maoming! Revolution of our times!” were heard during several days of protest in Maoming.

    Sounds like a reliable source

  6. Oh damn. Chinese spring anyone?
