  1. It rubs the healing crystals on the skin or else it gets the essential oils again.

  2. It’s good to stay hydrated I guess.

  3. I don’t think people understand what’s going on. Here are all the actual tweets by India’s Ministry of Health:

    * [One](https://i.imgur.com/ElFtasS.png)
    * [Two](https://i.imgur.com/VcntGHK.png)
    * [Three](https://i.imgur.com/JqDVgsk.png)
    * [Four](https://i.imgur.com/T1mMQxu.png)

    Plus a retweet of a [WHO advisory](https://i.imgur.com/ztFqx36.png), a [news announcement](https://i.imgur.com/GRSqiir.png), and an [FAQ](https://pibindia.wordpress.com/2020/01/30/faqs-on-novel-coronavirus/). None of them contain any mention of homeopathy, none of them have anything objectionable. It’s all good, useful information, approved by doctors.

    The one that everyone has been getting upset about is [this notice](https://i.imgur.com/ohj6Jzg.png), which mentions the homeopathy. This has nothing to do with India’s health ministry. As you can see at the top of the notice, this is from “AYUSH”, which is a separate office that was created to deal with various “alternative” medicine (abbreviation for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddh, Homeopathy). It’s unfortunate that they mixed in homeopathy (which is completely useless) with Ayurveda or Unani (which have a few good herbal medicines that have useful ingredients), but there you have it.

    But it’s important to separate the two. There’s the official Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which has nothing to do with any “traditional” medicine, and then there’s Ayush, which offers its brand of quackery. But Ayush has no power in enacting any healthcare laws – all the precautions, the airport checks, the quarantines, the distribution of masks or other health supplies – everything – is *solely* managed by the Ministry of Health.

  4. Here, have some canned air for your dehydration… it’s gots 0.4% water vapor in it! Drink up!

  5. That is some voodoo ass medicine there.

    I hope the homeopathy loons are watching this.

  6. You can supplement this method with prayers for health for better efficiency

  7. Come join us over at r/News_slam
    if you enjoy celebrating lazy journalists who love the word slam in every headline.

  8. Modi government has been promoting pseudoscience bullshit for a long time now.

  9. Caught a deadly virus have you? I prescribe you take some fake medicine for a week.

  10. Indian government recommends homeopathy to combat virus is a headline I would expect from plague inc

  11.      what the post advises you do, seems like perfectly fine advice. Drink clean water, wash your hands, use anti inflamitories to ease symptoms. Remember that there are components out there that do just as well as ibuprofen at reducing inflammation.

    Even if you are convinced that ayurvedic healing practices are bullshit, what option do people really have without high quality hospital care? Theres no pill to take no immunization no real cure, so they are advising people to use methods that will improve symptoms. Which, even if they are complete horseshit will help soothe a person’s mind through a placebo effect. So I dont really see the problem here.

    Maintain personal hygiene.

    •        Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available.

    •        Drink Shadang Paniya (Musta, Parpat, Usheer, Chandan,Udeechya & Nagar) processed water (10 gm powder boiled in 1-liter water, until it reduces to half). Store it in a bottle and drink it when thirsty.

    •        Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

    •        Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

    •        Stay home when you are sick.

    •        Cover your face during cough or sneeze and wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.

    •        Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

    •        Preferably, use an N95 mask while traveling or working in public places to avoid droplet transmission

    •        If you suspect Corona Viral infection, wear a mask and contact your nearest hospital immediately.
    Prophylactic Measures/Immunomodulatory drugs as per the Ayurvedic practices.

    •        Measures shall be taken to strengthen the immune system through a healthy diet and lifestyle practices.

  12. If you think about it, they’re not wrong. The best way to protect yourself from coronavirus infection is to expose yourself to it as little as possible.

  13. “Slammed” is one of those words that immediately makes me doubt the voracity of a claim in a headline.

  14. “This, while China builds entire hospitals in a week and combats its second epidemic since SARS.”

    this article just keeps on giving

  15. “Slammed” why not pile drived? Or suplexed? Or “attacked” or “defenestrated?”

  16. Should work just fine: staying at “home” of which the “pathy” is safey!

  17. Journalists and news-organizations SYSTEMATICALLY PURGEd and EXECUTED due to their overusage of the word “slams” and its variations.

  18. If it’s not being used literally, I only want to hear the word ‘slammed’ used when severe punishment is bestowed. Not when a person or entity get treated following zero repercussions.

  19. Time to get your crystals out boys!

  20. Gwyneth Paltrow has some Anti-Coronavirus stickers to sell to India

  21. This is a reminder that so called homeopathy is pseudo science and quakery and does not address medical issues.

    Please do not waste your money on fake pseudo science.

    Currently, research is ongoing to develop a safe and wide-use vaccine for “2019Ncov” (the wuhan flu) and general treatment of coronavirus. The current best treatment currently rely on hygien (wear masks, wash your hands, wash eventual tools in contact, avoid touch your face after suspicious contact etc), quarrantine, and treating symptoms of patients in isolation (fever, cough, etc).

    This is also a reminder that the death rate is low, assuming that you head to quarrantine and do not infect other people it is *unlikely* to lead to death (90+% survival rate). If you think you might be infected or exposed, please clean yourself, if possible call them then head to an hospital; if only to avoid contaminating other people.

  22. We should have Modi get the virus and do homeopathy.

  23. I’m a simple person. I see slammed in title, I downvote.

  24. Okay trumpers, you heard them!

    Your essential oils are the cure!

  25. This is what happens when people elect the nutjobs to the higher office.

  26. Bit surprised they didn’t recommend Cow piss

  27. Why is it that news outlets are always getting more action than me?! Always have to hear about someone getting slammed…

  28. Yeah and don’t forget the prayers too.

  29. Oh no, how will India recover from this massive slamming.

  30. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/indian-government-slammed-for-recommending-homeopathy-for-coronavirus-prevention-1.4790833) reduced by 78%. (I’m a bot)
    > TORONTO – India's government has been roundly criticized for recommending homeopathy to prevent coronavirus infection.

    > The government's Twitter account posted a coronavirus advisory on Wednesday, Jan 29., recommending popular alternative medicines for the prevention and management of the lethal new virus.

    > "Official government outlets promoting 'alternative medicine' for a currently raging epidemic that has just crossed into the country," wrote Shaantanu Singh.

  31. Still waiting for my $100 computer!!!!!!!!!..err or was it 10$?

  32. You know what they call alternative medicine that’s been proved to work? – Medicine.

    – Tim Minchin

  33. You mean to tell me that ingesting oregano essential oil isn’t going to cure me if I get sick?
    … Facebook lied to me, man.

  34. I find the usage of “slammed” almost as bad as the Indian recommendation to use homeopathy.

  35. I know this is a serious virus, but isn’t the advice really still…. first home care, then see a doctor if you can’t control your symptoms. Finally is its an emergency (with your breathing for example)?

    I mean it’s a virus.

  36. Good, do it. Let Darwinism sort it out. Those left will follow science.

  37. We just need Sadhguru to post a video extolling the virtues of Ayurveda in curing nCoV with a “Scientific Proof” that no one ever published. This will happen. It’s about time. Then we see all his blind followers taking a collective dump over Science.

  38. Well homeopathy has been proven to be complete fraud so rightly so.

  39. frankincense is not a monster.

  40. Home apathy. Go home and die.

  41. There are alot of natural anti-virals, I mean it’s a good prevention. Not the best treatment
