  1. >All of the eight are members of the renowned Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation (PWHF), a private non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and preservation of wildlife in Iran.

    >The Judiciary, hardliner politicians and the Revolutionary Guard **accuse them of espionage** without presenting any evidence despite the public announcement of the Head of the Department of Environment, Isa Kalantari, and even the Intelligence Ministry that **there is no evidence to support such charges.**

    Nobody likes you, Iran.

  2. >Iran’s Judiciary Spokesman on Tuesday said the Court of Appeals has affirmed the total sentence of 58 years in prison for eight environmentalists who have been in detention since February 2018.
    >
    >Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday Gholamhossein Esmaili said the case of the environmentalists “is a case of acting against national security”.
    >
    >Esmaili said the environmentalists have been sentenced to prison terms and “payment of money they received from the U.S. government” for collaboration with the United States and added that several other people have been sentenced in the same case.

    >The environmentalists accused of espionage and acting against national security were held in detention for months without indictment, some in solitary confinement and tried a year later by Tehran Revolutionary Court behind closed doors.

    >Professor Seyed-Emami, the founder of PWHF, died under suspicious circumstances in the notorious Evin Prison in Tehran two days after his arrest.

    >Iran’s judiciary claimed the 65-year-old professor of sociology had committed suicide because of evidence of espionage against him but his family and acquaintances and human rights defenders have always refuted the claim.
    >
    >According to the New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI), one of the Tehran-based lawyers representing the family has revealed that the autopsy result was never made public but a preliminary state medical examiner’s report “showed evidence of an injection on his skin” as well as “bruises on different parts of the body.”

  3. This is going to be a problem for some here who inexplicably like to pretend Iran is great.

Edit: called it. The defense brigade is here.

  4. Iran is one of the most backwards countries in the world and this just shows the world how retarded their rulers are. Fucking idiots.

  5. The revolutionary guard, utter filth.

  6. Strange how caring for the planet ( created for us by god according to their beliefs) is imcompatible with theocracies.

  7. Now I wonder which one will get to r/all. Islamic regime propaganda or this.

  8. Imagine trying to protect the environment where we live, and then being sent to prison for that.

  9. Take the time to click on the article and see the faces of eight very brave people who lived their values in a country where justice is a joke. Based on absolutely zero evidence of any wrongdoing, these eight and others are suffering for trying to protect wild creatures that cannot protect themselves. I applaud them.

  10. Reddit is very conflicted right now

  11. Fossil fuel is the life blood of the regime. Environmentalists are a threat to the regime.

  12. But Reddit told me they were super progressive because they allow people to get sex changes.

  13. But but but Reddit’s new favorite country wouldn’t do something like that…. Iran is a just, democratic nation and this somehow must be America’s fault.. I know it.. Donald Trump had to have done it.

  14. ITT: a lot of people who don’t know shit about Iran’s history but feel compelled to type away.

  15. Why are we okay with this country again?

  16. >Radio Farda (Persian: راديو فردا) is the Iranian branch of the U.S. government-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) external broadcast service. It broadcasts 24 hours a day in the Persian language from its headquarters in the district Hagibor of Prague, Czech Republic.[1]

    >Launched in December 2002 as the successor to RFE/RL’s Persian Service, Radio Farda advances the goals of U.S. foreign policy providing what it claims is an “objective and accurate news and information to counter state censorship and ideology-based media coverage”.

At least they’re not quoting accomplices of torture at Guantanamo anymore.

  17. Don’t give Trump ideas. The Cosmos knows a big bunch of the so called supporters of his would *love* a society with dicktaster Trump as supreme ruler. In ten years he’d undo all progress made in the last 309 years

If anyone doesn’t know, you know Drmuphf made ASBESTOS legal again and started importing tons and tons from his Russian oligarch friend? Yea, that stuff that is radioactive and kills you. Trump loves it! He’s the best builder in the world after all!

How can ANYONE take this sorry sack of plague seriously? Brain damage.
