  2. ‘A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit.’

This man made society great, sacrificed his safety to ensure someone else may have their own time to grow and their own turn to make society great.

  3. A priest who did exactly what Christ would have done. RIP Padre

  4. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13

This priest practiced what he preached.

  5. If there is a heaven, he belongs there

  6. Giuseppe Berardelli. Not only an old man, 72yr old man, priest, but a man with a name. Take the name with you, too.

  7. Knowing how people die from this disease, I can’t even comprehend that decision. It sounds noble and great on paper, but in that moment imagine basically choosing to slowly drown to death in your own lungs.

    fuuuuuck

  8. Always nice to see a person that talks the talk but also walks the walk

  9. FTA:

    > Father Giuseppe Berardelli, the main priest in the town of Casnigo, refused a respirator which had been bought for him by his parishioners and instead gave it to a younger patient.

    > He died last week in Lovere, Bergamo – one of the worst-hit cities in Italy’s ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Such a noble act. There is hope still…

  10. May you rest in peace, Father.

  11. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends

  12. John 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

  13. I’m not religious, but you have to give the man credit for practicing what he preaches.

  14. Thank you, Padre. May you be greeted at the gates a hero.

  15. This man died with the utmost honor and should be memorialized as a hero. That being said, do not confuse a *respirator* with a *ventilator.* The machine he gave up is a ventilator which assists breathing when lung function is compromised. Respirators are masks that filter air. BIG DIFFERENCE especially with the shortages of both.

  16. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

    -John 15:13

  17. Commas are a wonderful gift to humanity.
    1. He gave the respirator to young man, that had died without his knowledge.
    2. He died because he was selfless and gave it to another young man.

  18. A heroic act that never shouldve had to happen.

  19. I’m not religious, but such people who sacrifice for others live what they preach, and they have my deepest respect.

  20. Finally someone who comprehends WWJD.

THIS is Christianity. Not your prosperity gospel.

  21. The people on Reddit who are downplaying the severity of the pandemic and saying that this sort of thing is not happening are willfully ignorant
