  1. RM30 per person is not going to go very far

  2. It would have been easy if they went the Taiwan way. Everyone selling something must issue a receipt, on the back of which is a lottery number. Lucky ones get a big prize each month. Customers are happy, and traders will be insisted upon giving a digital receipt.

  3. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/malaysia-to-give-away-s148-million-in-drive-to-boost-digital-transactions) reduced by 59%. (I’m a bot)

    > KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia will start a programme on Wednesday to hand out a total of RM450 million to nearly half of its citizens, the government said, in a drive to increase digital transactions that will be a big boost for e-wallet companies.

    > The money will be distributed through South-east Asian e-wallet operators Grab, backed by SoftBank Group; telecom company Axiata's Boost; and Touch 'n Go, which is backed by banking group CIMB and China's Ant Financial.

    > The "Initiative is designed to widen digital payments adoption among Malaysian consumers and merchants, particularly among small retail businesses," Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng said.
