    * differences in chromosomes could mean less mutation in women (who are XX) than men (who are XY)

  2. An observational study, not cause and effect.

    Another theory is that females shed iron on a semi-regular basis, whereas makes have no way to shed excess iron except through bleeding (injuries or donating blood).
