  1. Yea I’m confused if someone armed shows up to your house in Glasgow what are you suppose to do???!!!

  2. If someone shows up at my house with a knife when I am in my bathrobe, and they end up stabbed, not me, I deserve a medal and a Jason statham hat , not 5 years in prison.

    This is not justice.

  3. Jury clearly thinks movies are real. Where you stab someone and they immediately fall to the ground and die. I knew a guy who got stabbed in his back with a kitchen knife who went to play snooker and only collapsed an hour later from a collapsed lung. If you have been attacked and you get the upper hand you keep going till they stop moving. that is not a conscious thought it is fucking flight or fight instinct. This guy went to jail for being human.

  4. Wow… That’s fucked.

What was he supposed to do? Let the armed robber rob and kill him? Seriously the UK is one screwed up nanny state. Can’t even defend yourself or your property.

  5. Doesn’t seem like a fair sentence but as I’d sooner spend a few years in jail than be killed I’d still stab an armed robber as many times as I could just to make sure he was dead and any accomplice he might have waiting in the wings got the message not to even try to assist him.

  6. Should have just let him leave, regroup, and attack again I guess.

  7. That’s some balderdash. People don’t just get stabbed once and fall over. To stop a threat you need to hit something vital or blood loss needs to stop them. So yeah, you might need to stab someone a bunch of times.

  8. Don’t mess with people of Scotland?

  9. I’m not defending the jury here but I have to assume that there is something in the law, as it was explained to them, that made them determine that 17 stab wounds was excessive.

  10. Read the article, people.

The issue is not that this man defended himself, but that the facts of the case, as presented to the jury, led them to believe that the man stabbing the assailant *17 times* was excessive and went beyond self-defense.

No one is arguing that the man was wrong to defend himself or that he should have “taken his lumps” or just given up his life and property, but the people with access to all the facts of the case—the judge and this man’s jury—agreed that stabbing the attacker 17 times was excessive.

  11. Well I hope that the people on that jury never have to face a situation like this.

  12. But the Americans have it all wrong…

  13. Should had a gun for home protection. More humane then stabbing someone 17 times.

  14. Wtf?!! This is crazy! He did the right thing

  15. Do people not have Castle doctrine in the UK?

I understand hating “Stand Your Ground” laws, but Castle doctrine offers protection to homeowners if someone breaks in.
