Manchester City jumped to the top of the English Premier League football temporarily after its big victory over West Bromwich 5-0 on Tuesday evening in the 20th round, which also saw Arsenal beat Southampton 3-1.
Manchester City goals were scored by Ilkay Gwendogan (two goals) in minutes 6 and 30, Joao Canselo in the 22nd minute, Riyad Mahrez in the second minute of stoppage time for the first half, and Raheem Sterling in the 57th minute.
Manchester City raised its score to 41 points at the top of the standings, temporarily, and one point ahead of Manchester United, who faces Sheffield United this evening, Wednesday, in the same round.
And West Brom’s score stood at 11 points, in the 19th position penultimate.
In the second game, Arsenal came from defeating Southampton to a 3-1 victory.
Southampton advanced with a goal scored by Stuart Armstrong in the third minute, and Nicholas Pepe tied for Arsenal in the eighth minute, then Bocayo Saka scored the second goal in the 39th minute, before Alexandre Lacazette finished off Arsenal’s goals in the 73rd minute.
Arsenal raised its score to 30 points in eighth place, and Southampton stopped at 29 points in 11th place.
