  1. “Danger: Priests in area”

  2. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/council-motion-calls-for-signs-at-churches-warning-of-dangers-within-20191009-p52z6h.html) reduced by 86%. (I’m a bot)

    > The church says that it supports mandatory reporting and encourages victims to report abuse to police but will not break the seal of confession.

    > In the motion, Cr Frances Gilley asks council officers to "Write to all churches and places of worship requesting assurances that all staff and associates will abide by the law of mandatory reporting".

    > "Approached for comment in response to Cr Frances Gilley's motion, Francis Moore, the church's executive director of administration, said:"The Archdiocese is committed to the safety of all children and has been on the public record since 2013 in favour of the extension of mandatory reporting to include clergy.

  3. Lol Aussy sarcasm. Indirect way of saying, fix the safety issue or else…

  4. Can we do a sign like that in front of the White House so women can be made aware of the predator in there? 24 women now.

  5. This seems like a great idea until someone puts signs before Muslims neighborhoods in England warning safety of girl students not guaranteed

  6. Ok then put it literally everywhere because safety can’t be guaranteed anywhere.

  7. Until such time as the Church agrees to report child abuse to the police, instead of hiding behind the ‘seal of the confessional’, then this councilors suggestion is entirely responsible and reasonable.

Nothing in existence should be above the protection of children. It’s the churches greatest hypocrisy.

  8. Are there similar signs outside every government office re the stolen generations?

  9. Can’t be guaranteed anywhere though. This is just political manoeuvering by a politician capitalising on a known issue.

  10. They should do that and at the same time put up the warning in front of schools and government offices.

  11. Literally [a week after a group of Muslim kids made a Jewish kid bow down and kiss their feet](https://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/news/shocking-cases-of-antisemitic-bullying-just-the-tip-of-the-iceberg/news-story/c3f053a8b24ea85d4a72f8159df291d5) this council member identifies Catholicism as the problem in the city?

  12. Are we forgetting that the Christchurch suspect was Australian…? This seems perfectly reasonable in that case.

  13. Thank God in the U.S. we have the first ammendment.
