Joan Laporta will become president of Spanish club Barcelona for the second time after leading by an irreplaceable margin in the elections that took place on Sunday evening.
Barcelona said Laporta won 57.6 percent of the vote after counting 96 percent of the vote.
Victor Font came second, with 31.7 percent, while Tony Frica came in third, with 9.2 percent of the vote.
Thus, Laporta, who has a friendly relationship with captain Lionel Messi, who voted in the elections, has won historic elections in the club’s history surrounded by financial crises and technical problems.
This may enhance the chances of Messi staying with the Blaugrana, and giving up the idea of leaving after the end of his next formulas.
