  1. Even in China this was evident.

Healthcare workers who go to work are hero’s

  2. From the article: A total of 4,826 healthcare workers in Italy have been infected by the novel coronavirus, according to the latest information Sunday from Italy’s National Health Institute (ISS).

That means some 9% of those infected nationwide by Covid-19 are healthcare workers.

  3. ElI5 : given the Italian doctors all have personal protective equipment: visors, masks and throw away gowns and were not the first country infected so knew about it, how have so many doctors caught the virus ?

The only answer I have is persistence on surfaces but this doesnt really work either as a nurse cant touch her hand to her face if she wears a visor or goggles or mask, as they all do.
I’m sure a few weren’t wearing the masks properly, but they are trained healthcare professionals so not many.

Please give me your opinion, I don’t understand why the numbers are so high for medical personnel.

  4. Does anyone know how many healthcare workers Italy has in total or as a % of the population?

Because in all fairness, where I live, 1 in 10 jobs is in healthcare, so this statistic doesn’t even seem that crazy. (Yes, they are overrepresented, but the article fails to say _by how much_)

  5. But I thought fake news said the Chinese Coronavirus wasn’t transmittable between people? How can this be?
