  1. This was known since at least March 18th, 1980. It seems modern climate models are trending closer and closer to an internal report from the American Pertoleum Institute which projected 2.5C rise by 2038 and 5.0C rise by 2067. Somehow we didn’t need 27 different climate models and a hope that clouds will somehow save us back then.

  2. It won’t matter anyway. The world is collectively incapable.

  3. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://phys.org/news/2020-01-climate-paris-goals.html) reduced by 89%. (I’m a bot)

    > New climate models show carbon dioxide is a more potent greenhouse gas than previously understood, a finding that could push the Paris treaty goals for capping global warming out of reach, scientists have told AFP. Developed in parallel by separate teams in half-a-dozen countries, the models-which will underpin revised UN temperature projections next year-suggest scientists have for decades consistently underestimated the warming potential of CO2.

    > "We have better models now," Olivier Boucher, head of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace Climate Modelling Centre in Paris, told AFP, adding that they "Represent current climate trends more accurately".

    > Among the 27 new models examined in Zelinka's study, these were also among the ones that best matched climate change over the last 75 years, a further validation of their accuracy.

  4. The Kyoto, Paris and Madrid meetings were public relations exercises intended to delay accountability, by the states that have, license, and legitimatize the major carbon dioxide emitters: Australia, Canada, Brazil, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, The Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, and the United States.

  5. Treaty, no treaty, who cares. The planet certainly doesn’t, you keep increasing CO2 and will all end up burning like Australia.

upside though is once the human race is wiped out then the world can cool in peace.

  6. Australia was 1.5°C above average in 2019 so I wouldn’t be surprised if this revision is revised.

  7. Quick! Subsidize Chinese and Indian manufacturing more! Don’t forget that countries like Canada need to import enough people to up it’s population to 100 million!

/s because the Paris accords are horseshit that solves nothing but act as major blows to the Canadian working class.

  8. No facts here people. Just sandbox predictions.

    Nostradamus would be proud.
