  1. Hiroshima bombs is not relatable. How many Hot Pockets is this?

  2. Hmm rather silly comparison. We tend to think our nukes are powerful, but the natural forces (hurricanes, volcanos etc) blow em out of the water easily. Orders of magnitude more powerful.
Im not diminishing the fact that the oceans are becoming warmer, just the use of nuclear weapons as comparison.

(pardon my spelling, fighting my God damn autocorrect and English is not my first language.)

  3. This is how you bring freedom and democracy to the oceans

  4. Alternatively, the oceans are warming at the same rate as if two and a half Hiroshima bombs were dropped every half second.

  5. And yet no effort is made to point out how hilariously tiny that amount of heat is to the incomprehensible vastness of the oceans…

15,000 tons of TNT isn’t even a rounding error in the context of ~1,300,000,000,000,000,000 tons of water.

  6. At this rate the Antarctic will be ice free by 2019

  7. This is one of the reasons many people are not taking the climate crisis seriously. Statements like this only produce more skeptics
