Saudi Arabia .. Restructuring the Shura Council and the Council of Senior Scholars

The King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz, issued a series of royal orders on Sunday, including the restructuring of the Council of Senior Scholars headed by Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Sheikh and membership of 20 other religious scholars in the country.

The royal orders included the formation of the Shura Council headed by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, with 150 members and a term of 4 years.

The orders included the appointment of Sheikh Ghaheb al-Ghayb as an advisor to the royal court, and the appointment of Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Luhaidan as president of the Supreme Court.

The Shura Council in Saudi Arabia is similar to the parliament in other countries, and is appointed by the king, and its decisions are not final but rather require the approval of the king.
