The Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh convicted the activist Loujain Al-Hathloul of charges of inciting to change the basic system of government and seeking to serve an external agenda inside the kingdom, using the Internet to harm public order, and cooperating with a number of individuals and entities.
The court said that this comes under the Law on Combating Terrorist Crimes and Its Financing.
Saudi media said that the court imposed a prison sentence of 5 years and 8 months against her.
The judgment included a stay of execution for a period of two years and 10 months of the prescribed penalty.
It also ruled that if it commits any crime within the next three years, the stay of execution will be considered null.
