  1. Korea’s still rockin it. I hope their government and the individuals who are responsible for the appropriate proactive measures get the respect they deserve. And yeah, a culture of wearing masks for sickness is looking more and more as if it’s been beneficial as well.

  2. this is an argument for not ‘opening up the country’ too soon.

  3. As a resident, I can assure you that there has been little social distancing being practiced here in Korea, apart from school closures and some companies implementing WFH.

With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, local spots had to be shut down because of the high number of people congregating – but only for the weekend, mind you. A field of flowers popular with people for taking pictures had to be destroyed with tractors because of people ignoring the banners that it was closed.

Cafes and restaurants in many areas are as busy as ever. Once patrons sit down, the masks come off. Over the weekend photos circulated of huge lines for Gangnam clubs and packed crowds. I see gym selfies every day on my Instagram feed. Picnics, group bicycle rides, house parties.

Just thought some light deserved to be shed. The social distancing program is simply a suggestion that many are choosing to ignore. Apart from schools, the country has been operating as normal, if only at lower capacity.
