  2. >The European Union is phasing in a new average emission target for new cars of 95g of carbon dioxide per kilometre, with car makers that produce heavier vehicles getting a higher emission allowance than those whose products are lighter.

    >Currently, the UK’s average emission figure for cars sits at 127.9g/km, meaning a one-quarter cut is necessary – a huge task for manufacturers, especially given Britons’ penchant for larger, heavier cars, which can include SUVs.

◦The average passenger vehicle in the USA emits about 404 grams of CO2 per mile

    244.84g/km

    edit : in the USA

  3. This is the sort of change that is possible, Rather than trying to ban fossil fuels outright, how about taxing SUVs or giant trucks?

In the US, it’s almost rare to ever see a car anymore, everyone drives either a SUV or giant pickup (which is never used for anything pickup related)

  4. I have an SUV. Id like to get a Tesla. Can’t afford it. Maybe someday.

  5. This will be reversed as US manufacturers cannot comply, and Bojo will not want to upset the US.

  6. Hell yes, let’s do it. Screw SUVs.

(But let’s not forget that we might not have to have even considered banning SUVs if we had collectively taken more and better action by now. We put ourselves in this situation.)

  7. Should say – ‘are NOT clean processes ‘

  8. Feel bad for all countries doing this how will teens afford cars

  9. The UK is yet to focus on an eco friendly infrastructure for transportation. If I’m wrong please enlighten me but from what I see very little is being done.

  10. I love when the leading pictures are of water vapor

  11. This seems stupid. You can make feul efficient suvs

  12. Where will all that lithium and cobalt come from to replace those cars?
