The Armenian president warns that the Karabakh region will turn into another Syria … Where is the conflict heading?

Armenian Member of Parliament Hayek Konjarian said that his country is committed to a peaceful solution to the crisis in the Nagorno Karabakh region, but Azerbaijan – for years – has sought to solve the crisis in the region through military action.

In statements to the episode (1/10/2020) of the “Beyond the News” program, he added that Armenia welcomes all international calls for dialogue, while adhering to providing the appropriate environment for this through an immediate ceasefire, but Azerbaijan wants to impose conditions before the ceasefire, which is an obstacle. Before starting it.

He added that the Turkish intervention with the military support of Azerbaijan exacerbates the situation, and makes it difficult to start the dialogue, and called on the leaders of America, France and Russia to start unconditional dialogue and a ceasefire, but Azerbaijan refuses to dialogue before implementing its conditions, and Turkey’s intervention and bringing in Syrian fighters to fight exacerbates the situation.

On the other hand, the Azerbaijani parliamentarian, Sevil Mikayilova, said that the land Armenia is talking about is Azerbaijani lands that it occupied about 30 years ago, and Security Council resolutions demand that Armenia withdraw its unjustified occupation of these lands.

She added that her country is proceeding with the liberation of its lands, and will not back down from that, accusing Armenia of destroying the security of the region for 30 years, and seeing that the resettlement of many families in the Karabakh region is contrary to international law, stressing that her country does not reject dialogue, but it is demanding that Armenia withdraw from the territories. It occupies in order to bring peace to the region.

For his part, the writer specializing in UN affairs, Abdul Hamid Siyam, said that the freezing of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia will not lead to a solution, and the decisions issued by the Security Council in 1993, which establish a comprehensive and comprehensive solution to the problem, must be adhered to, and Armenia occupies approximately 9% of Azerbaijan’s territory.

He added that Azerbaijan worked to build its military forces to confront the Armenian forces supported by Russia, and returned to confrontation to liberate its occupied lands, and everyone must understand the picture in a clear way in order to find a solution to the conflict and not return to the previous problem itself by freezing it and demanding Azerbaijan to withdraw.

It is noteworthy that the Armenian President Armen Sarkissian warned of the transformation of the Caucasus region into what he described as another Syria due to the ongoing conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region.
