The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, met in the capital, Doha, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), First Deputy Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council and his accompanying delegation, and during the meeting they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to support and strengthen them.
The Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that the guest briefed the Emir of the country on the latest developments in the situation in Sudan, and expressed his thanks and appreciation to him for Qatar’s supportive stances in all areas and its efforts to achieve peace in Darfur.
Hemedti arrived in Doha yesterday, Saturday, in the first official visit of a high-ranking Sudanese official since the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11, 2019.
In a tweet on Twitter, Hemedti said that his visit to Qatar confirms the depth of the relationship between the two countries.
The Vice President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council is accompanied on this visit by Foreign Minister Omar Qamar al-Din, and Director of the General Intelligence Service, Jamal Abdul Majeed.
