European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell pledged to use all available means to continue to pursue human rights issues in Bahrain.
In response to a message sent by members of the European Parliament in this regard, Borrell affirmed that the promotion and protection of human rights occupies a fundamental dimension in the European Union’s relationship with Bahrain.
He referred to discussions that took place in Brussels between the European Union and Bahrain last year, which dealt with the death penalty, the right to a fair trial, prison conditions, arbitrary arrests, torture and ill-treatment.
He also indicated that the European Union is still committed to following up the case of Bahraini prisoners Muhammad Ramadan and Hussein Musa, who are on death row.
Borrell confirmed that the Federation requested Bahrain to release the human rights activists who suffer from difficult health conditions.
