The resignation of the Jordanian government, and the king assigns it to conduct business

Official media reported that King Abdullah II of Jordan today, Saturday, before the resignation of Prime Minister Omar Al-Razzaz, and assigned him and his government to continue conducting business until a prime minister is chosen and the new government is formed.

Last Sunday, the Jordanian royal court announced that the king decided to dissolve the current parliament, in preparation for holding legislative elections on the tenth of next November.

Under the Jordanian constitution, the king may dissolve the parliament, and it is he who issues orders to hold elections for the parliament, and the king also decided to dissolve the upper house (the second chamber of parliament) and reconstitute it.

On August 31, 2016, the government approved a new electoral bill that abolished the “one vote” law, reduced the number of parliament seats from 150 to 130, and allowed the voter to vote for more than one candidate within an open proportional list system.
