Tunisian Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi said today, Tuesday, that the country’s economic and social problems and crises have negatively affected the biggest achievement of the Tunisian revolution, which is freedom.
Ghannouchi explained this during today’s seminar in the capital, Tunis, that the people no longer care about freedom, and now only want economic and social achievements that the state can no longer achieve due to its crisis situation.
The Tunisian Parliament Speaker added that it is not easy to keep the torch of the revolution so far, in light of the storms in the Arab world and despite the Arab climate and its declining freedoms, and he believed that the Tunisian society has become stronger than the state, given that social demands have become high.
He said that relying on the state has become burdensome for it, and it must relieve itself, and it is unreasonable for it to continue in the same approach, as it is the sponsor that teaches, cures and provides transportation and job opportunities.
Tunisia has been living for some time against the impact of political and social tension and protests in many governorates, calling for the improvement of social and economic conditions.
