  1. Besides, he planned this at least 6 months ago, so none of what he said is true anyhow

  2. He said he could kill without consequence before he got elected.

    Who’s next? Whistleblowers? Witnesses?

  3. > “Last week, the United States once again took the bold and decisive action to save American lives and deliver American justice,” Trump told a crowd of supporters in Toledo on Thursday evening.

So “American justice” means breaking laws and ordering an extrajudicial killing?

  4. “Yeah, i mean, he was bad. Like very very bad. He was much more bad than you would ever understand. Let me tell you, i’m a very informed and really smart person”

  5. It matters because you said it. Next Article of Impeachment:Abuse of the Public Trust

  6. I mean he’s right. He’s lost no support and congress has not done a thing.

  7. So he is saying that he as president of america is a target and when he is assassinated it is just one of those things that happens during war or conflict..

  8. He’d better watch what he says.

If a “terrible past” is sufficient grounds for getting rid of someone, I can think of no one who is more vulnerable than himself.

  9. So Trump committed a war crime and a political assassination without legal authority to do so.

You would think his supporters would be fed up with his endless lies, but apparently they love being lied to.

  10. So is trump saying the US has the right to kill anyone without any sort of trial? I mean the us has been doing that for a long time but seems like hes just being open about it.

  11. > eminent, imminent. What’s the difference?

    – The currant precedent of America

  12. Lol they just move the goal posts because conservatives literally will support anything they say without critical thinking

  13. It’s starting to develop eerily similar echoes of Margaret Thatcher’s decision to sink the Argentine warship General Belgrano in 1982

She began telling us that it was inside the 200 mile exclusion zone (it wasn’t) and posed an “imminent threat” (it didn’t) and was “closing on elements of the British task force” (it had been sailing on a bearing of 270 for about 11 hours – away from the Falkland islands)

Eventually she was reduced to saying that the threat was theoretical and therefore the precise location didn’t matter.

The threat of course, was that a viable peace plan was emerging, and one which would inevitably get bogged down in negotiation. She knew that sinking the ship would torpedo the peace plan, and calculated that politically this was her better option

  14. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/477966-trump-says-it-doesnt-matter-if-soleimani-posed-an-imminent-threat) reduced by 89%. (I’m a bot)

    > On Monday said it didn't matter if Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani posed an imminent threat to the United States because of his "Horrible past.”

    > Trump also asserted that his national security team agreed on the imminent threat posed by Soleimani that led to the decision to kill him.

    > Trump administration officials have described the strike against Soleimani as a defensive measure aimed at preventing imminent attacks orchestrated by Iran that threatened American lives.

  15. I mean, he’s right. He has unconditional GOP support who are the Senate majority

  16. “Soleimani was definitely a threat but even it he wasn’t it doesn’t matter! Very cool very legal!”

  17. His defenders have been saying this from the start. It doesn’t matter, he was a bad guy and therefore it’s a good thing that we assassinated him.

The idea that it might be unwise to assassinate a bad guy just doesn’t seem to compute.

  18. So, as much as I hate the guy, the headline is kind of skewing what he said. This is the full quote:

    > The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners are working hard to determine whether or not the future attack by terrorist Soleimani was ‘eminent’ or not, & was my team in agreement. The answer to both is a strong YES., but it doesn’t really matter because of his horrible past!

So he’s saying that it was an imminent attack, but it doesn’t matter.

With that said, I completely agree that he should not be saying nor implying that it doesn’t matter if Soleimani posed an imminent threat or not.

  19. Apologists have been lousy in these threads. It’s sad, really.

    Keep holding him accountable.

  20. He’s not wrong, for once. It doesn’t matter because his apologists will go to bat for him regardless.

  21. Does he print new copies of this playbook with every stupid thing he does because he eats them after the fact or is this one not as appetizing?

  22. Dude wanted to a football team because he loves moving the goalposts!
