  1. So in Australia, pumpkins grow underground? Down under indeed.

  2. Prices have already jumped up in Melbourne but the big problem is supply and what is getting through is of very poor quality. Food security is looking a bit dodgy these days.

  3. It’s not a prefect storm. It’s the reality of climate change. Get used to it.

  4. Quick question, what is “rocket”?

Never had it myself. Never even heard of it. The only rockets I’m familiar with are those that like send people to the moon, or send nukes to other places and the like.

Not as a vegetable I might have on my plate.

    Help me out, would you?

    ….

So I just googled it and “rocket” is arugula. Huh.

    Who knew?

  5. Grow your own food people. If you don’t know how, PM me and I’ll get you started

  6. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-14/vegetable-prices-in-australia-set-to-rise-fire-drought-impact/11866038?pfmredir=sm) reduced by 85%. (I’m a bot)

    > The price of vegetables is expected to jump by up to 50 per cent as catastrophic bushfires destroy crops and shut down highways while growers remain under pressure from ongoing hot and dry conditions.

    > The vegetable industry's peak body, AUSVEG, made the forecast, with chief executive James Whiteside warning that Queenslanders, in particular, would cop the higher prices because so much of the state's produce came from, or through, Victoria and New South Wales.

    > "I wouldn't be surprised to see prices moving up between 20 per cent and 50 per cent," he said.
