  1. Meh, people are referring to Benghazi but I’d say those two situations are incomparable. Consulate in Libya was a relatively small compound, a house with a fence and some gates.

Embassy in Baghdad, on the other hand, as far as I know, has ten feet of rock, steel and reinforced concrete between them and the angry mob, this is one of the most fortified and heavily guarded buildings on Earth, they’ll be fine!

  2. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iraq-security-usa/violent-protests-erupt-around-u-s-embassy-in-baghdad-after-u-s-air-strikes-idUSKBN1YZ0IO) reduced by 80%. (I’m a bot)

    > BAGHDAD – Protesters and militia fighters enraged by U.S. air strikes on Iraq staged a violent demonstration outside the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday, torching a security post and hurling stones as security forces and embassy guards hit back with stun grenades and tear gas.

    > U.S. planes on Sunday had attacked bases belonging to an Iranian-backed militia – an action that risks drawing Iraq further into a proxy conflict between Washington and Tehran at a time when mass protests are challenging Iraq's political system.

    > "Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified.”
