Iran’s Persepolis team snatched the qualification card for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League, after its difficult 1-0 victory over Qatar’s Al-Sadd on Sunday in the eight-final round of the tournament.

Persepolis owed the credit for this victory to Issa Elkseir, who stole the match’s only goal in the 88th minute.

Persepolis ended the match with 10 players after Siamak Nemati was sent off in the first minute of the match’s stoppage time.

Persepolis had led the Group C standings with 10 points from 6 games, compared to 9 points for Al Taawun II and Al Duhail III, and 7 for Sharjah.

On the other hand, Al-Sadd ranked second in Group D with 9 points from 6 games, trailing two points behind Al-Nasr, Saudi Arabia, compared to 7 points for Iranian Sepahan and 5 for Al-Ain Al-Emirati.
