Zidane commented on the disappointing draw, saying, “The feeling (of a draw) is not good, because we had opportunities, and we could not finish the match. Once (Elche) scored his goal, he returned to defense and closed the spaces, and things were difficult for us.”
Real Madrid, the defending champion, have won the last 6 games in all competitions, and Zidane denied talking about his team feeling satiated before facing Elche, who returned to La Liga for the first time since 2015.
“I don’t think we suffered from excessive confidence, because we know what is at stake. The influencing factor was scoring the second goal, and we failed to do so. The match was more difficult after (Elche) equalized even though we created several chances after that,” the French coach said.
“We missed two points, but we must go ahead and think about the next match.”
Real return to host resplendent Celta Vigo, who have won 6 of their last 7 matches and have not lost since 21 November.
