  1. Ocean ecosystems ? Oh fuck !

[Yeah. We’re going to have a great time reconciling our Economic disasters during 2020 too](https://i.redd.it/kjqxuj938ap41.png)

Might be time to consider transitioning to Eco friendly Economies

  2. [Study in question.](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2189-9.epdf?referrer_access_token=ajHvV6GwUggVSwIMIYGl5NRgN0jAjWel9jnR3ZoTv0Mu1Ah8wVLy6bvXVvBoMP6OX5Xn8HtFnr5wyEsRgddPi_a2NoQ-AyGMKenRa6AWh27MwKKICU6rm-dBnde_8lgkgEcViaiokWllvycXk6o5CLYLV360_jwOsSLkFkJHr_5d8nAEb2L255GODdgGNpOw_gO66b_bp3_Sxcv7f9TFeTmx54TDcsOweEhlVCtl9NUOx1xi90xRT8ZyMP5441igriTqLmeVD4tU95wwekKhi1Tamm_gcPA3muXv-rX5KqdmV23yduyiDWI2UWvUs91UYfFmBQO7WZ5BSiVQ1-cOsw%3D%3D&tracking_referrer=www.theguardian.com)

What do we do? The same thing scientists have told us to do for decades that we still refuse to do:

    >Considering the temporal dynamics of the exposure of biodiversity to climate change provides an early warning of the potential for abrupt ecological disruption. Averting—or at least delaying—the crossing of this ecological horizon is possible for most assemblages, and requires massive and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Our results also highlight the urgency of targeted management responses, including establishing monitoring sites in exposed regions, establishing new protected areas in refugia, and investigating the potential of assisted migration and adaptation.

  3. Hopefully with the world shutting down due to coronavirus this can offer some needed relief and slow down that trajectory. When we reopen after coronavirus, I hope that we can be more environmentally conscious. The coronavirus may be the perfect time to stop the world and re-evaluate things so that when we steadily get back to normal over the next few years we can have a better society.

  4. I imagine the next WW will be fought over food sources. Probably fresh water as well. We might end up at a sustainable population just through war, disease and famine over the next couple of decades. Assuming we don’t completely render the planet uninhabitable and all die.

  5. I volunteer to not eat bats or pangolins

  6. They are all going to shit with or without global warning, because we keep destroying their habitat.

  7. I still can’t fathom how, given all the terrifying predictions about our climate, oceans and economies in the next two decades, people are still having two or three child families.

  8. Can we like… Load a previous Save file? One from 1900 or so?

  9. Why are we still calling this global warming? I guess ocean acidification, plastic pollution, over fishing, oil spills have nothing to do with it.

  10. Born too late to explore the earth, born too early to explore the stars. Born just in time to see the current world fall apart.

  11. ocean ecosystem collapse in 2020’s?

    Jesus fuck.

  12. Great, no more jelly fishing. /s

  13. Great Filter candidate, anyone?

  14. Welcome to the Holocene Mass Extinction Event.

  15. Systems that depend on unlimited growth can no longer be entertained.

  16. It’s either act now or try to learn how to terraform a planet while we’re still living on it.

  17. Oh shit. So we start 2020 with global pandemic and recession (probably leading into depression) and head right into ecosystem collapse. I guess there is no reason to lose weight right now cause food might be a problem soon….

  18. We’re already in a freefall aren’t we?

  19. that means if the orange clowns offspring will leave any

  20. tinfoilhat toggle: What if this pandemic was intentionally crafted to stop the world/emmisions for a while as a test/desperate try to reach the climate goals.

  21. It seems like these “the end is nie” headlines are always getting pushed back further and further.
